A: Find your Epson printer's control panel, which is normally on the upper right-hand side, and locate the reset button. Press and hold this button for three seconds to reset the printer and clear away corrupted data. If the printer does not have a reset button, power off the printer and wait several seconds before turning it back on.
This is a heads-up for owners of Epson R300 and some other Epson printers. There is an internal 'counter' that at a certain point will stop the printer. Jan 18, 2010 Thanks for your selflessness Steve H. Describing the RESET procedure for the Epson R300 by simutaneouly depressing the POWER, STOP and MAINTENANCE switches. I checked with Epson, via telephone, and they recommended going to an authorized dealer for ink pad replacement (approximately $100) or buy a new printer ( $150 - $250).
The Kodak ESP includes an internal memory chip that provides you with information about the state of your printer, including the amount of ink left in each cartridge. Although the ink levels that are reported in the Maintenance menu of the printer’s on-board screen are usually accurate, the chip can experience errors that lead to incorrect readings. You can reset the printer to show the correct ink levels by performing a power cycle.
Open the internal compartment to access the ink cartridges.
Turn off the printer, wait approximately five seconds and then turn the printer back on. This process clears the previous ink cartridge reading from the machine’s internal memory.
Replace the ink cartridges, turn the printer off and restart it after five seconds.
Open the “Maintenance” menu on the printer’s on-board screen and confirm the ink reading in the 'Check Ink Levels' option.
