It is impossible to overstate the importance of the final mastering stage when mixing, as it can make or break a recording. The FG-X Mastering Processor is Slate Digital's mastering plugin that combines an ultra-transparent compressor, a loudness enhancer, and a comprehensive metering panel. FG-X can make your mixes louder without altering the dynamics, removing punch, or skewing your mix balances.
Intelligent Transient Preservation
The FG-Level Loudness enhancer module uses a proprietary process called 'Intelligent Transient Preservation', or ITP. ITP looks ahead at your mix peaks and optimizes a custom saturation curve that best preserves its characteristics. For example, if it sees a kick drum, it will create a saturation curve that best preserves low end energy. If it sees a snare drum, it will saturate it with a curve that best retains midrange punch. Overall, the ITP will keep your mixes punchy and dynamic while making them competitively loud.
Dynamic Perception
Dynamic Perception is a process that will simulate more dynamics in your mix, which can be helpful in the loudness process as dynamics are reduced. It's a very powerful control that can really help retain the original dynamics of your mix, or even add a bit more.
Lo Punch And Detail
Lo Punch can raise the level of the low-end punch of the mix (like the kick drum level, for instance) while Detail will raise the level of the high-end punch (such as a snare drum). These controls are intended to be used to customize the amount of transient articulation in the final master.

What Is Revival?
Revival borrows aspects of tubes, tape, transformers, and world-class analog filters to create two separate processes. Shimmer adds depth, clarity, space, width, and air, while Thickness adds warmth, punch, body, and fatness.
Revival can be used on individual tracks, like adding air to pop vocals or fatness to drums, but also try it during the mastering stage to bring out details in full mixes.

You will need to sign up and you will also need an iLok2 or iLok3 because even though the host VMR Rack and Revival are free they still use iLok licenses but you will also get a 15-day trial activation code for the full VMR system with all the VMR modules to try out.
When you hit the Download For Free button on the Revival page, you will need to sign up giving your name and email address, 2 things will happen.
- You will then receive an email from Slate Digital with 2 iLok activation codes, one for Revival which will never expire and one for a 15 day trial for the full VMR system.
- A page will open with links to the installers and a variety of help resources.

Use the appropriate download link for your operating system, install the plug-in and then use the iLok License Manager to redeem the iLok Activation codes.
